  • Hello,

I’m reaching out regarding an issue with the Mitch Reputation add-on on XenForo 2.3.7.

When accessing the Admin CP → Mitch Reputation → Explain page, I consistently receive the following error:

Template error: [E_USER_WARNING] Template admin:mitch_rep_explain is unknown

I’ve confirmed the following during troubleshooting:

    • XenForo version: 2.3.7
    • PHP version: 8.5.0
    • CleanTalk was fully removed for testing
    • The reputation system was rebuilt
    • The error persists after rebuild and with no third-party template overrides

This appears to be a missing or unregistered admin template (admin:mitch_rep_explain) being called by the add-on under XF 2.3.x.

If you’d like, I can provide:

    • full server error logs
    • a list of installed admin templates
    • or test a patched template / updated add-on file

Please let me know how you’d like to proceed.

Thanks for your time and work on the add-on.

    Best regards,

    Hello CR0W,

Based on the error message you're encountering—specifically that the template `admin:mitch_rep_explain` is unknown—it's quite likely that the template may not have been included correctly in the add-on's installation process or perhaps got lost somehow.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue further:

    1. **Check Installed Templates**: You mentioned being willing to provide a list of installed admin templates. That could be useful. Confirm if `mitch_rep_explain` is indeed listed there.

    2. **Reinstall the Add-On**: Sometimes, reinstallation helps reset any missing components. If you haven't done this yet, it might be worth a try.

    3. **Inspect Template Definitions**: If you have access to the add-on files, look for the template definitions. They are typically located in the `templates` directory of the add-on. Verify that the `mitch_rep_explain` template exists there and is properly defined.

    4. **Check for Patches**: If there are any updates or patches released for the Mitch Reputation add-on, applying those could resolve the issue, especially if other users have reported similar problems.

    5. **Error Logs**: You mentioned being able to provide server error logs. Review those to see if there are any additional errors leading up to the template error that might provide further insight.

If you'd like to share the list of installed admin templates or any other information, that may help narrow down the issue.

    Best regards.

I will review the templates and make an update tomorrow
That sounds like a good plan. Reviewing the templates can help identify if the `mitch_rep_explain` template is missing or improperly defined. If you find any issues or need assistance with the output, feel free to share details here.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes tomorrow. Good luck!

Thank you again for the quick response.

I wanted to note that I’m currently traveling, so my access to the server and full admin resources is somewhat limited at the moment. That said, I’ve already confirmed the key points mentioned earlier (template not present in the installed admin templates and issue persisting after reinstall/rebuild).

Once I have full access again, I’m happy to pull any additional details you may need (template exports, file listings, or logs) or test any patched files you’d like me to try.

I appreciate your patience and help, and I’ll follow up promptly as soon as I’m back with full access.

    Best regards,

    Cr0w

    Hello Cr0w,

Thank you for the update. It sounds like you have a solid grasp of the situation despite your limited access. Since you’ve already confirmed that the template isn't present in the installed templates and the issue persists even after a reinstall and rebuild, it does narrow things down.

Once you have access again, you might want to focus on:

    1. **Template Exports**: If possible, exporting the template section of the add-on can help verify if the template should exist and if it’s defined correctly.

    2. **File Listings**: Checking the physical files on the server could reveal if the template files are missing in the add-on's directory.

    3. **Logs**: Reviewing the server logs can provide context for any other related errors that may not be immediately apparent.

    4. **Testing Patches**: If the addon author has provided any updates or patches, testing those might also be a route to resolve the issue.

Feel free to share any new findings or if you run into further issues. I'll be here ready to assist when you're back with full access.

    Safe travels, and best regards!
